Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash: Video Generation and Extension for Marketers

Google’s Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash is now a practical video-model release for teams that need short clips, controlled transitions or scene extensions. Google’s developer changelog lists the model as generally available on 27 August 2026. The model code is gemini-omni-1.1-flash.

What changed in the GA release

The current model documentation describes text, image and video input, plus video output. Outputs are documented as 3–10 seconds at 24 frames per second, with 360p and 720p options and 1080p or 4K where the operation supports upscaling. The changelog also records first/last-frame interpolation with up to two images.

Video extension is the most useful workflow change. Google describes ten-second extension increments, up to a cumulative 40 seconds, while retaining up to ten seconds of prior context. That makes it possible to test a product reveal, event recap or transition without regenerating a full sequence. It does not guarantee continuity of text, product geometry, faces, lighting or motion. Those are review questions.

Google says 360p can be up to 60% faster and one-third the cost of 720p. Treat that as Google’s product comparison, not an independent benchmark. Measure the cost and accepted-output rate on the team’s own prompts, resolutions and retry pattern.

What a marketer can test first

Start with a small matrix: one approved source image or clip, two prompts, two aspect ratios and two resolutions. Ask for a storyboard or draft output first. Record the model code, endpoint, prompt, source-asset rights, resolution, render time, retries, reviewer defects and final disposition.

The changelog says gemini-omni-flash-preview is deprecated on 30 September 2026. Teams using the preview should identify the exact model in logs, test the GA endpoint, compare output and update their rollback note. Keep input duration, output duration, resolution, quota, pricing and regional availability as date-stamped implementation facts; they are not permanent guarantees.

The matrix is a planning aid, not a promise that one request can combine every input, duration and resolution. Confirm the operation and limits in the current model documentation for the exact endpoint. Keep a request receipt with model code, project, endpoint, source IDs, prompt, output settings, timestamp, retries and reviewer.

Preview migration, access and retention checklist

Before 30 September, search logs and configuration for the preview model ID rather than relying on a project name. Confirm that the GA model is enabled for the intended project, that the service account or user has the necessary permission, and that quota and billing are understood. Run a representative prompt set on the GA endpoint and keep the preview result only as a comparison artifact if its retention is permitted.

Record changes between endpoints: duration, resolution, request schema, safety response, output quality, latency, cost and failure handling. Keep a rollback note with the owner, previous model ID and stop condition. Use rights-cleared or synthetic inputs first.
